[25] GENRE: Influences From Structuralism

Structuralism plays a large role on genre, different genres follow different narrative structures and this means that they can be directly associated to that genre. An example of this would be how children films such as ‘Shrek’ tend to follow Vladimir Propp’s character type theory.

Structuralism also believes that most stories follow the same storyline just changing the setting and characters within it, this is also seen widely in all media texts.
