[22] GENRE: Definition of Genre

A genre is essentially a style of media text, this spans across all kinds of narrative and is often clear to an audience before they even view the media text from its name and posters etc.

Genre has its own associations with it, for example: you expect a horror film to be scary and to use low-key lighting as well as following a certain narrative structure.
